Edit Field Automation Overview
What is 'Edit Field Automation'?
Edit Field Automation is an app for Jira Service Management which enables project administrators to edit and update custom fields with automation rules.
In Jira Service Management, you can create automation rules to perform actions in your service desk based on certain triggers and conditions. The 'Edit Issue' action which ships natively with Jira is limited and it's not possible to edit and update custom fields (see JSDSERVER-4258).
Our app solves this issue, by exposing all Jira fields!
What does Edit Field Automation do?
When Edit Field Automation is installed, a new action becomes available in your automation rules: Edit issue custom fields.
You can use this to update the value of custom fields in your Jira instance.
Why do you need Edit Field Automation?
JSDSERVER-4258 is a long-known issue, originally raised in Sep 2016.
Atlassian has not yet released native support for editing custom fields in automation rules, so we've decided to release this app for free to bridge the gap. This now means you can automate field edition to your heart's content
